General Meeting
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ... an ice cream social! Let’s have one last summer fling and enjoy an ice cream cone or sundae, created by you, while we renew our friendships, pick up the new Guild booklet and see the presentation on upcoming events. Sweet!

Tag Sale
It’s amazing how much fabric and other quilting paraphernalia a quilter can gather in a year! If you missed it last year, you have another chance to go through your stash and other quilting supplies to find those items that you no longer want or don’t think you’ll ever use. Set up a table of your own to sell unwanted items (a small percentage of earnings will be donated to the Guild) or donate the items to the Guild’s sale table (all sale proceeds go to the Guild for upcoming programs).

Karen Griska – trunk show and creative quilting presentation.
Karen Griska presented a trunk show of the “Best of” her quilt collection including many you didn’t see at Brookside Quilting this year, and some interesting vintage quilts (purchased on eBay). Karen shared her approach to quilt-making and some thoughts on the creative process. There was a drawing for “fabulous” prizes. It was a great time.

Improvisational quilting with Karen Griska – Ferris Wheel Quilt pattern
Member learned to make the FERRIS WHEEL bock which is the fast, fun way to make fan blocks in any size. No paper involved, no hassle. Fan blocks make a dazzling quilt, or can be used in other ways such as corner blocks to round-off a border. This pattern uses lots of 2” strips in a large variety of contrasting fabrics such as stripes, large prints and something wild, etc.

Join us for our traditional fun-filled Guild Holiday Party and meal prepared by the Holiday Committee. Let us remember those less fortunate and bring an unwrapped gift for a child (infant to 12) to be donated to charity. Members who have a special cookie recipe that they traditionally make this time of year are encouraged to bring some in for dessert. This is a paperless event so don't forget to bring your own place setting, silverware, napkin etc. and show off a placemat you love.

Kathie Beltz - Trunk show and lecture “Secrets From the Judge’s Chambers“
Have you ever attended a quilt show, and been mystified why one quilt won a ribbon, while an equally wonderful quilt did not? What are the qualifications for first, second, and third place? What are the special awards? What is the process of evaluating and judging quilts? These questions, and more, will be answered when I reveal the secrets from the judging room. (Actually, there are no secrets. You probably already know the answers!)
