Instructions for Camp to Belong Pillow Case
ROUND ROBIN WITH FABRIC
Making 12.5” (finished 12”) blocks
Needed are 12 participants - if there is more (or less) interest, adjustments will be made.
This is a fun project where you choose "ONE" favorite quilt block
Gather about 5 yds of complimentary fabric of your choosing. You will only need to make 1 block monthly.
At the end of the challenge, you will have 12 blocks (depends on participants) all different patterns but using your fabric.
Quilt fabric amounts:
1 1/2 yd of a focus or themed fabric
1 1/2 yd of a background fabric
3 - 4 other fabrics in 1/2 to 3/4 yd cuts
Can acquire extra of fabric for sashing & borders, but do not pass around this fabric.
The Process:
- Starting in January 1, 2022 choose your block and make one with your own fabric.
KEEP THIS BLOCK!
- Clearly mark your Focus and Background Fabric. Place all fabrics in a container of your choice. (Ziploc bag works best)
Include your Name and Phone# and/or Email address with the fabric.
- Starting February 1st and every month thereafter, pass the fabric on to the next person on the list (list developed after sign-ups completed). Note...you will always Pass to the same person and Receive from the same person on the list.
- When you Receive fabric, make your same favorite block. You will make the same quilt block every month using the other person’s fabric.
Attach the Person's Name to the block and KEEP IT with your own block.
- Repackage the fabric and pass it on the 1st of every month. Do Not pass the fabric early.
- By January 2023 or earlier ( depends on # of participants) you should have 12 blocks, all the same block design but made with different fabrics.
We will then sort out the blocks and each of us will go home with 12 blocks, all different designs, all made using your own fabrics.
You can then add sashing and borders and quilt as you want. You may either keep the quilt for Yourself or give to our community quilt program.
Stress free parts were:
1) you get a month to make the block
2) you made the same block each month
Reveal - We had 2 rounds:
1st round everyone laid out their blocks on table to see design they chose in various color choices
2nd round. Everyone laid out their blocks in the color palette they chose. Great thing - each person went home with 12 different block designs

Gray tones are not allowed unless that is the chosen “other” color. Embellishments and threadwork can also only

The “other” color can be shades of the same color or solids but cannot
be a color that fades from one to another; for example, an orange that fades to
yellow.
- The quilt can be of any shape, but
the combined total of all sides of the quilt cannot exceed 160 inches (a 40 X
40 quilt equals 160 “). There is no
minimum size requirement.
- Your entry can be a placemat, table
runner, framed print, wall quilt or other.
Any presentation is allowed.
- Your entry can be constructed using
any technique you choose. (Applique, pieced, paper piecing, or mixed, other).
- The entry must be completed, i.e., quilted

and must be attached in a way that it doesn’t show when the quilt is hanging.
- A label should be attached to the
back of the quilt identifying the maker, the date, the name of the quilt (if
applicable) and any other pertinent info you wish to document your quilt with.
- Prizes and ribbons will be awarded to
the top winners by popular vote.

there is no limit.
